Dr Geerten van de Kaa
Geerten van de Kaa is Assistant Professor of Standardization and Business Strategy at Delft University of Technology. He holds a PhD from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. His research interests include platform wars for complex systems; (collaboration) strategies for innovation; energy systems; and (responsible) innovation and standardization. He is the author and co-author of more than 75 publications. He has published in high ranking international journals including Organization Studies, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Technovation, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Telecommunications Policy, Technology Analysis & Strategic Management, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Computer Standards & Interfaces, and Journal of Systems Science and Systems Engineering.
He has won several (teaching and research) awards including two best paper awards, a best doctoral dissertation award and a teaching award. He teaches courses in the strategic management of technological innovation.

New technologies like wind mills and e-vehicles require turning our electricity networks into ‘smart grids’. Examples of values relevant for a successful and responsible transition to smart grids are privacy and reliability.
