Drs. Mayli Mertens
Mayli has an M.A. in Applied Ethics from Linköping University in Sweden and is an instructor at Yale University’s Sherwin B. Nuland Summer Institute in Bioethics where she teaches Bias in Bioethics and Environmental Justice. She's is currently a PhD candidate in Prof Marianne Boenink's research project entitled "Prognosticating of patients in coma: towards a responsible practice" at the University of Twente.
In 2017, Mayli received the honorary award “Excellence in Teaching” from the Yale University Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics and in 2016, she was awarded with ’Best Formal Paper by a Graduate Student’ by the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE) for her work “Objectivity behind the red line: A case for binocularity in war reporting.”
